Traffic Management Order - TMO869 - Received 14/03/07
The Council wish to put in a new parking bay 15 m long on Sisters Avenue just to the north of the juction with Thirsk Road (outside Nos. 51 & 53).
It looks to me as if this parking bay would narrow Sisters Road at a bend very near a junction. I guess that a parking bay was probably not put there before because it was considered dangerous.
I think we should object to this on the grounds of danger to cyclists using Sisters Road.
Any comments??

As you say, the Council's proposal sounds potentially very hazardous for cyclists (and also pedestrians). I think we should strongly oppose it.

I live at 53 sisters avenue and I hate the council with a passion. i have asked for parking tickets from the local office on Lavender Hill on several occasions to a rude and unhelpful receptionist. Apparently the only way to get a parking ticket is to be unemployed or on benefits.
ReplyDeleteHench I oppose anything the council want to do on principle!
WCC resnt a response to Wandsworth Council on 17 April 2007.
ReplyDeleteWe objected to the proposal, saying:
"Wandsworth Cycling Campaign object to this proposal on the grounds that the parking bay will narrow the carriageway at a bend so creating a road narrowing with a potential hazard to cyclists. One of our members who is a frontager to the proposed parking bay contacted us and also objected to the proposal."
Wandsworth Council acknowledged our objection on 18 April 2007 and promised a reply to our objection within 10 working days (2nd May).
